It keeps going and going…Tuesday, September 27th, 2005
The pregnancy since that is happy news I will put that on the top of my list of things that keep going and going….We are approaching 26 weeks the wiggly one is getting bigger and I can feel him moving more each day, my wife lets me touch her belly.
Our marriage. 10/3/95 is our 2nd anniversary we are headed to Niagra Falls, ON not NY…Gonna spend some money in Canada and take advantage of the favorable exchange rate because who knows how much longer we will have that.
Death: Of course…I just found out that my grandmother has Liver cancer…who knows how that is gonna turn out, and I really dont wish to type it all out now…Suffice to say the Dr. havent told her yet because all her tests aren’t in yet…THey have to find out where it started because they dont think that it started there or that it is actually liver cancer…I am done with this part of the blog for now.
Work: THe cycles up and down, busy times and slow times and slow times and busy…Great….THe slow times really really suck.
I guess that is it for now…Peace and I’m out…

Could you hold the head steady while I milk the cow.Monday, September 19th, 2005
Man this last week has been a busy one.
I am glad this Finally Fit Challenge took off, it is just what I needed and apparently what a few other needed too….So I got that going on.
Work has been busy, which is always good in the sales field, although it needs to be busier, not necessarily more accounts, but larger ones. Know what I mean.
We have been shopping for baby furniture which for some reason my wife cant decide on any. She found one she like finally it is a convertible crib. If you have never bought a crib they are different now then when we were little. Most cribs don’t have drop sides anymore, they have become stationary pieces of furniture, and instead of the sides dropping, the beds now drop. They have three different levels to put the baby at. As the baby gets larger the bed gets lower.
Once you are done using it as a crib it coverts to a day bed, then a full size head and foot board. So buying one that is stylish is a plus. Here is the one we are thinking of
Pretty damn nice I think…We will get it in oak….
Over the weekend we got an invitation to attend a baby safety seminar and show….We were thinking it was a baby expo, you know like a bridal or a career expo…Turns out it was a 2 hr lecture on baby safety all geared towards purchasing Baby tenda Products.
All really safe stuff and from the demonstration and the sales pitch much safer ehn the stuff in the stores…The only problem is that it looks like shit…I mean this is not stuff to keep around it is all horrible looking….Even though the stuff converts it still looks like hell….The sold you on the safety pointing out that the manufacturers of all the stuff in Babies’r us, sell based on parental convenience and looks
So we were sold, I mean what is the price for our babies safety.
Well turns out after shipping, layaway, taxes, plus the discount on the car seat (50, instead of 100), it was $791.00. But our baby will be safe right?
Wait fuck that 791.00!!! Are you kidding me! Wont we be home when the kid is asleep? Wont we be watching and monitoring? Didn’t my parents do just fine with the razor sharp metal cage that they kept me in?
Of course they did! Called and canceled it this morning…Dirty salesmen and their scare tactics….
On Sunday I was supposed to help out my buddy who owns the catering place with some benefit dinner for the Air National Guard, 5000 hungry faces…He asked me a few weeks ago I said yes. I guess I was supposed to have my license (which he didn’t tell me) to him by last Thursday. I didn’t so he said I couldn’t go.
At the last min, he tells me that I can go to be to the place by 6am…I live 40 mins away….I tell him fine…An hour later I can see how the night is going, with Melissa, she couldn’t sleep I know I wasn’t allowed to then either. So awake I stayed. I called him around midnight to tell him there was no way I couldn’t go. I started watching baby story and some other show around 2:30 am and watched them until about 4 when we finally fell asleep. I felt bad, but I just couldn’t get there, and I would have had to work for free from 5am until 5pm…Instead I cleaned the basement….More to come on that later.
Our second anniversary is coming up in a few weeks too….This one will be our last as non-parents, and our last with at least just the two of us for awhile, so we made some plans. We are head up to the Sheraton on The Falls in Ontario CA.
We hear the Canadian side is nicer then the NY side so that’s where we are headed…That’s also where the casino is…Hopefully I get lucky in a couple ways…
Pretty sweet place, maid of the mist and the whole deal…Hopefully the Mrs. wont have to pee too much on the ride up, because it is a long ride up there….I am not a stopper although I do brake for pregnant women….
Cleaned out the basement this weekend…It is a finished basement so we had to put all of Melissa clothes away that don’t fit her right now, plus the other assorted crap that has accumulated down there….I hung my dart board and threw some darts…I used to be good….I won the first game and lost the second….which sucked since I don’t usually lose at darts or vacuum cleaner beer bottle baseball….Although I am not allowed to play the latter, not since college.
Challenge is going well…Enjoyed a nice local brew on Saturday, so that took out one of my CE’s. I didn’t get drunk or anything but I just cant count it as clean. I think I am retaining water real bad, and I am looking forward to a bunch of cardio this week to help me shed the water… Not just from the 2 beers just in general… Pictures and stats to come…
Oh by the way, Do you know how many fatalities there are on the road every day? You should buy some life insurance.

Week 24 UpdateFriday, September 16th, 2005
I will update the general section of this blog a little later this weekend…
How your baby’s growing: Your baby’s growing steadily, gaining about a quarter of a pound since last week, when she was just over a pound. Since she’s almost a foot long, that makes a pretty lean figure, but her body is filling out proportionally and she’ll soon put on more baby fat. Your baby’s skin is thin, translucent, and wrinkled, her brain is growing rapidly, and her taste buds are developing. Her lungs are developing “branches” of the respiratory “tree” and cells that produce surfactant, a substance that helps the air sacs inflate easily.
How your life’s changing: The top of your uterus is now an inch or so above your belly button, which means it’s about the size of a soccer ball. With the skin on your abdomen and breasts stretching, you may feel a little itchy now and then. If your skin is dry, keeping it well moisturized may help. Also, your eyes may be sensitive to light and feel gritty and dry. This is a perfectly normal pregnancy symptom known as dry-eye. To ease your discomfort, use an artificial tears solution to add moisture.
Most women will have a glucose screening test (also called a glucose challenge test or GCT) between 24 and 28 weeks. This test checks for gestational diabetes, a high-blood-sugar condition during pregnancy. Untreated, high blood sugar increases your risk for having a difficult vaginal delivery or needing a cesarean section because it causes your baby to grow overly fat, especially in his upper body. It also increases your baby’s risk for complications like low blood sugar at birth. A positive result on your GCT test doesn’t mean you have gestational diabetes, but it does mean that you should have the more involved glucose tolerance test (GTT) to find out.
It’s also a good idea to be aware of the signs of preterm labor. Contact your caregiver immediately if you notice an increase in vaginal discharge that is watery, mucus-like, or pink or blood-tinged; any vaginal bleeding or spotting; abdominal pain or menstrual-like cramping or more than four contractions in an hour; an increase in pelvic pressure; or low back pain that you haven’t had before.

Week 23Sunday, September 11th, 2005
Thjngs are going well with the Pregnancy….I can feel teh baby move on a regular basis which is alot of fun, and the other day I saw the baby moving around through the belly….It was pretty awesome…Oh and I had mY heand on her stomach on her belly yesterday and the kick the baby gave really rocked my hand pretty damn good….So here we go….Week 23….
Your baby will be weighing about 1 pound at this stage and the body is becoming more and more in proportion as each week passes. The bones of the middle ear are beginning to harden now as well. The pigment that colors your baby’s skin is being deposited this week. Even though fat is accumulating on your baby’s body, the skin hangs loosely, giving your baby a wrinkled appearance. This happens because the skin is produced more quickly than the fat accumulates. Your baby’s daily workout routine includes moving the muscles in the fingers, toes, arms and legs regularly. As a result, you may feel more forceful movement.
Life with Mom-to-BeThe Braxton Hicks contractions will continue this week. This is nothing to worry about as your uterus contracts all the time throughout your life, but it is generally felt when your uterus is full.
Although labor may seem like a long way off when you’re just 23 weeks pregnant, you’ll know that it is just a round the corner when you start finding it more difficult to sleep at night. Anxiety, frequent urination, heartburn, leg cramps, and general discomfort can translate into a short night’s sleep for a pregnant woman. Despite those reasons, the health of you and your baby depend on your rest. Try a warm bath, soothing music, a relaxing book, or a cup of herbal tea to put you in the mood to snooze.
Many doctors recommend that pregnant women sleep on their sides, not their backs or stomachs, so that blood flow to the placenta is not restricted. If you find this uncomfortable, try placing a pillow between your knees to relieve the pressure of your weight while lying on your side.

Ha…..My college buddy made the big time….Go Annable!!!! Check out his show tonight on Fox. Reunion…..
Walden guy has role in new Fox TV series
By Germain LussierTimes Herald-Recordglussier@th-record.com
Watch out, Adam Brody. There’s a new sarcastic, lovable everyguy on Fox. He’s from right here in the Hudson Valley, and his face is already plastered on ads at the Galleria mall.Dave Annable, a 1997 Valley Central graduate, stars in one of the TV fall season’s debut dramas, “Reunion,” which premieres at 9 tonight on Fox.“Reunion” is a mix of two other Fox hits, combining the dramatic plot lines of “The O.C.” and temporal development of “24.” The pilot episode begins in 2005 at a mysterious funeral for the murder of one of six friends and flashes back to 1986, when those friends graduated from high school. Nineteen subsequent episodes, each summarizing a year, will follow the friends as they grow up and fill in clues about the murder. The season culminates in 2006 at their 20-year high school reunion.“Really, it’s about friendship, growing up and how six lives can change over 20 years,” the 25-year-old Annable said via cell phone from the “Reunion” set in Vancouver, where he now lives. “I think about how much my life has changed in the eight years since I graduated Valley Central and it’s unreal.”After high school, Annable went to SUNY Plattsburgh before moving to New York to pursue acting. He landed a few commercials, a guest spot on “Third Watch,” a small role in the Brittany Murphy film “Little Black Book” and was up for two Fox pilots before being tapped for “Reunion.”His character, Aaron, is the nerd of the group.“When my dad read the script, he said, ‘It’s going to be the acting challenge of your life to be this smart,’ ” Annable said. “It’s pretty much a stretch.”It will be a stretch for Fox to win a big audience for “Reunion.” It airs right after “The O.C.,” which is a great lead-in for any show, but it’s up against ratings giants “C.S.I.” on CBS and “The Apprentice” on NBC.Whatever happens next, “Reunion” has already allowed Annable to fulfill at least one lifelong dream.“Way back in the day I used to say to my mom, ‘Wouldn’t it be crazy to be in something that played at the Galleria?’ ” Annable said. “So having my face up there is pretty cool.”

Their Own Personal KatrinaTuesday, September 6th, 2005
When your a little kid there are certain people you look up to in the world…You parents, grand parents maybe some aunts and uncles. People who show you how to have fun and the history of your family and what love and family is all about. Earlier in the year, my grandfather passed away and now just a few short months later my uncle dies.
When we were kids this guy was invincible, took us fishing could build anything and was a great time to be around. As he got older his diabetes got worse. He had both his legs amputated earlier this year, in two seperate surgeries, and had to change the entire structure of his house so He could get in it. Unforunatly though after the surgeires he was never able to go home for more tehn a few hours, becuase he was unable to care for himself, and my Aunt was unable to provide the skilled care that he needed, so he live in a rehab center hoping one day to come home.
Earlier in the year,His son went through a bitter divorce from a woman who is spiraling out of control with unchecked mental disorder, his grandson died of an extremly rare cancer, then his surgery, then his other surgery to remove his other leg, then his step-father died(my grandfather), the day his son (the one who lost his son to cancer) started chemo therapy for Liver and Pancreatic cancer he dies (this morning).
How much can this one family take? They have been wiped out in the matter of months. I will say a prayer for my Aunt and spend the weekend at the funeral I guess….I am glad he isnt suffering anymore…

Kanye West’s Torrent of Criticism, Live on NBC
By Lisa de Moraes
Saturday, September 3, 2005; Page C01
Why We Love Live Television, Reason No. 137:
NBC’s levee broke and Kanye West flooded through with a tear about the federal response in New Orleans during the network’s live concert fundraiser for victims of Hurricane Katrina last night.
The rapper was among the celebs and singers participating in the one-hour special, produced by NBC News and run on the NBC broadcast network, as well as MSNBC and CNBC, because, hey, the numbers couldn’t be any worse than usual on a Friday night and hopefully they’d raise a chunk of change for a good cause, the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund.
Among the performers, Faith Hill sang “There Will Come a Time,” which included the lyrics, “The darkness will be gone, the weak shall be strong. Hold on to your faith.” Aaron Neville performed Randy Newman’s “Louisiana 1927″ with its chorus: “They’re trying to wash us away, they’re trying to wash us away.”
West was not scheduled to perform; he was one of the blah, blah, blahers, who would read from scripts prepared by the network about the impact of Katrina on southern Louisiana and Mississippi.
West and Mike Myers had been paired up to appear about halfway through the show. Their assignment: Take turns reading a script describing the breach in the levees around New Orleans.
Myers: The landscape of the city has changed dramatically, tragically and perhaps irreversibly. There is now over 25 feet of water where there was once city streets and thriving neighborhoods.
(Myers throws to West, who looked extremely nervous in his super-preppy designer rugby shirt and white pants, which is not like the arrogant West and which, in retrospect, should have been a tip-off.)
West: I hate the way they portray us in the media. You see a black family, it says, “They’re looting.” You see a white family, it says, “They’re looking for food.” And, you know, it’s been five days [waiting for federal help] because most of the people are black. And even for me to complain about it, I would be a hypocrite because I’ve tried to turn away from the TV because it’s too hard to watch. I’ve even been shopping before even giving a donation, so now I’m calling my business manager right now to see what is the biggest amount I can give, and just to imagine if I was down there, and those are my people down there. So anybody out there that wants to do anything that we can help — with the way America is set up to help the poor, the black people, the less well-off, as slow as possible. I mean, the Red Cross is doing everything they can. We already realize a lot of people that could help are at war right now, fighting another way — and they’ve given them permission to go down and shoot us!
(West throws back to Myers, who is looking like a guy who stopped on the tarmac to tie his shoe and got hit in the back with the 8:30 to La Guardia.)
Myers: And subtle, but in many ways even more profoundly devastating, is the lasting damage to the survivors’ will to rebuild and remain in the area. The destruction of the spirit of the people of southern Louisiana and Mississippi may end up being the most tragic loss of all.
(And, because Myers is apparently as dumb as his Alfalfa hair, he throws it back to West.)
West: George Bush doesn’t care about black people!
(Back to Myers, now looking like the 8:30 to La Guardia turned around and caught him square between the eyes.)
Myers: Please call . . .
At which point someone at NBC News finally regained control of the joystick and cut over to Chris Tucker, who started right in with more scripted blah, blah, blah.
“Tonight’s telecast was a live television event wrought with emotion,” parent company NBC Universal said in a statement issued to the Reporters Who Cover Television after the broadcast.
“Kanye West departed from the scripted comments that were prepared for him, and his opinions in no way represent the views of the networks. It would be most unfortunate if the efforts of the artists who participated tonight and the generosity of millions of Americans who are helping those in need are overshadowed by one person’s opinion.”
West’s comments would be cut from the West Coast feed, an NBC spokeswoman told The TV Column. (The Associated Press later reported that only his comment about the president was edited out.) The show was live on the East Coast with a several-second delay; someone with his finger on a button was keeping an ear peeled in case someone uttered an obscenity but did not realize that West had gone off-script, the spokeswoman said.

Week 22Friday, September 2nd, 2005
How your baby’s growing: Your baby now looks like a miniature newborn, checking in at 10.9 inches and almost 1 pound. Her skin will continue to appear wrinkled until she gains enough weight to fill it out, and the fine hair (lanugo) that covers her head and body is now visible. Her lips are becoming more distinct, and the first signs of teeth are appearing as buds beneath her gum line. Her eyes are developed, though the iris (the colored part of the eye) still lacks pigment. Eyelids and eyebrows are in place, and her pancreas, essential for hormone production, is developing steadily.
How your life’s changing: You may start to notice stretch marks on your skin as your abdomen expands to accommodate your growing baby. Some pregnant women never get stretch marks, but at least half do. These small streaks of differently textured skin can range from pink to dark brown (depending on your skin color), and they become more apparent as pregnancy progresses. They can appear not only on your tummy, but also on your buttocks, thighs, hips, and breasts. Lotions won’t prevent or eliminate them, but they help with any itching. Also, you may no longer be an “innie” — your navel is flat and may soon pop out. It will revert to its usual shape after birth.
Another interesting skin quirk you may notice during pregnancy is something called vascular spiders. These are little areas of raised, reddish skin, with tiny branches. Commonly found on the face, neck, upper chest, and arms, they’re caused by the higher levels of estrogen in pregnancy, and they usually disappear after delivery.
More updates on me to follow…
