Under Here.Thursday, July 28th, 2005
How do you like the new layout? For some reason I really identify with the graphic on the top of the page.
I again went to stand up this morning and go to the gym at the early 4:30am and was called back to bed. One, by my aching muscles, and two by my pregnant wife. Sometimes I need to just hug her and tell her I love her before she is too awake, and uncomfortable in her own skin. Between the Hammer and spinning last night…Oh boy did I kill myself….
Spinning was good last night. The instructor was a big muscle guy which was a change for once. Not some sucked out or funny looking guy. He was a little confused as to how intense cardio affects the body and the burning of calories, but I didn’t correct him J.During the free spin portion of the class, when spinning was getting the most intense, I closed my eyes, and just got lost in the pedaling and my own heavy labored breathing. It felt awesome to disappear into that pain for a little while.
The gym is going well, this week and will continue too since I am dedicated. Despite standing the dawg up once, and this time calling and telling him I wont make it, it actually isn’t too hard for me to be awake at that hour. I guess my sleep rhythms have me awake at 4am…It would be better at 3, though since that is what time I seem to normally wake up.
Still giving this name thing lots of thought. We are approaching week 17 tomorrow, it is exciting stuff, and I think this morning she has her first confirmed movement….Exciting stuff, I guess I should be able to feel it in a few more weeks…

Week 17 PregnancyThursday, July 28th, 2005
The Mom:
Having trouble finding a comfortable way to sleep? It’s a common complaint in pregnancy as they progress. It’s recommended that pregnant women not sleep on their backs. As your uterus grows, when you lie on your back, it puts pressure on several important blood vessels. This can decrease circulation to your baby, and yourself.
You may find it more comfortable to sleep on your side, with a pillow between your knees. This helps keep your hips in alignment. Some women find comfort with placing a pillow under their growing abdomen, or in using body pillows.
Experiment with what works best for you.
You may also have already felt your baby’s first movements by now. This is called quickening. It feels like a butterfly fluttering in your stomach. It’s also been describes as “bubbles”. It will be a few more weeks before you start feeling kicks and punches.
Your uterus is about 1 1/2 to 2 inches below your navel at this point.
SYMPTOMS YOU MAY EXPERIENCE
Breast Changes, tenderness, fullness, darkening of the areolaFrequent UrinationConstipationIndigestion or heartburnOccasional headachesStretch Marks (cocoa butter can help with these)ItchingThe Baby:This week, your baby is starting to develop fat layers. Did you know that by the time your baby is born, fat layers will be about 3/4 of his total weight? Speaking of weight, your little one now weighs on the average 3.5 ounces and is almost 5 inches long.

Pregnancy Week 16 What really going on in there.Tuesday, July 26th, 2005
Mother:You may begin to feel the baby move around this point. This is more likely to happen now if you are a multipara (someone who has had a previous child) or if you are very thin. Generally you will feel the baby move about one month earlier than you did in a previous pregnancy, mainly because you know what you are feeling. It is not uncommon for first time mothers to not recognize fetal movements until 22-24 weeks. These first movements are called “quickening.” They can also be used in helping to determine your due date.
Baby:Your baby’s nails are well formed, and some babies are even in need of having their nails trimmed at birth. The ears have also moved from the neck to the head.
Your baby is emptying his or her bladder every 40-45 minutes. The limb movements are becoming more coordinated. Your baby is about 3 ounces (85 grams) and 6.3 inches (16 cms). The gender may be detectable by ultrasound.

Pregnancy week 16Overview: Pregnancy information at week 16 of being pregnant - You may feel the first movements of your baby inside you, a slight ?butterfly? feeling in your abdomen.
Another Websites InfoYou(Her)
The middle months of your pregnancy are probably when you feel at your best. Your skin retains fluid, making it firmer and smoother and an increase of blood flow can make your skin glow. Your heart rate increases by about 20 per cent to cope with an increased flow of blood throughout your body. With all that increased circulation, nails and hair will grow faster. You may feel the first movements of your baby inside you, a slight ‘butterfly’ feeling in your abdomen. However most women don’t start feeling movements until several weeks later. You may become constipated as the hormone progesterone, which maintains the pregnancy slows your digestion down and your growing uterus pushes on your bladder and bowel. Try drinking at least two litres of plain, still water each day. You may be offered blood-screening tests for spina bifida or Down?s syndrome this week.
Your baby
Your baby’s eyebrows and eyelashes are starting to grow. If you could gently stroke your baby’s cheek she would respond as if searching for a nipple to latch on to. Until now her head has grown quicker than anything. Now your baby’s body accelerates to catch up and she begins to look more in proportion. Your baby will look thin because she hasn’t developed a layer of fat, and her skin is so thin you can see the blood vessels below. Your baby has a firm handgrip and can suck her thumb and make a fist. Her eyelids are still closed and will stay that way until about the 25th week, although your baby can detect changes in light through her thin eyelids. A fine covering of thicker, darker hair starts to sprout on your baby’s body. This is languo and keeps your baby’s body at a constant temperature in the absence of fat. Bones start hardening, including the tiny ones in your baby’s ears, and your baby can hear some sounds for the first time.

The Name GameTuesday, July 26th, 2005
The name game used to be easy…
All you needed was a beer, and another person and you were set. The rules were why you were thinking of a famous name (or the name of the person in the group, SOCIAL!) you had to be drinking your beer. The next person in line has to think of a person whos first name starts with the First letter of the last name of the person you said.
So…If I said Ben Franklin the next person in line would have to say Flip Wilson…If there was a double Name or a single name such as Mickey Mouse, or Madonna, the order would change and you could have battles…All the while drinking your ass off and having a blast.
Today I sit at work looking at my business cards, thinking how the hell am I supposed to name a person I dont know….
I am John L III. My father is John Jr. We have a long line of Johns here not unlike in a rest stop bathroom…I am proud of my name and of my father. He is a good man, and I’d like to think that I am a good man too…Now I guess from what everyone says Men want to have a son so they can pass down their family name, and have a son named after them. I am not nearly that vain. I just want the kid to be happy, and healthy and loved. I am not of the super macho type when it comes to this stuff.
If we named our son John IV (I get to have a story to tell about having posion ivy and that if it was a girl I thought that was the perfect name, now I get it in intials, I think that is clever), he will be called Jack…My fathers family calls him, Johnny, and they call me little Johnny, which as I get older I cant stand. I find it to be very disrespectful, hey you is better in my book.
If we name him Jack- it is a derivation on the name John, but not the name of my father and grandfather. No one calls us any of us Jack…I am also worried about limiting my son. My father when I was a kid always talked of me working with him, when circumstances arose and I needed a job, I started to work with him. I wonder if that is because I am named after him…If I wasnt would I have done something else….Now dont get me wrong, I dont feel trapped by the name, but I dont want to trap anyone by the name.
If this all seems convuluted I am sorry, but these are the things that keep me up at night…
I think John IV-but we call him Jack might be confusing, but we also dont even have to tell people his name on the Birth Certificate right? We could just say this is Jack.. Melissa hates the name Johnny, which is strange because of my highschool friends and cousins call me that, and I cant bear the thought of having people call hiim little John or Johnny. I should ask my friend Jack what he thinks of his name…Although his name is John too.
Just a thought…Stay tuned for week 16…SOrry my pics are gone I guess they got lost in the update…

Spent Sunday in the Dawg houseTuesday, July 26th, 2005
Got up early on SUnday and broke off a little church action…I know that was weird to write it that way…I was just wearing shorts and a t-shit, and they asked us to bring the gift up to teh altar….I felt really underdressed but, no one gets dressed up for church anymore liek they used too. THe Bishop said the Mass and he was really fast, and funny, so that was a nice change of pace.
I then came home and washed up the cars. ONly 2 of them. THe sweet thing about the Saturn is the thing never looks dirty…Cant beat that for a shine.
Then it was off to the Dawg house. It was a nice time. Dawg was watering his garden when we got there lots of tomatos…And the largest marjauana plants you have ever seen….No I am kidding….There are no tomato plants….LOL….Kidding Kidding….
We went siwimming and had a nice bbq…It was fun to play with the little dawg in the pool. It reminded me that I will be a father sooner then later. (More on that to come)
I am still trying to sell the eclipse but I have lots of phone calls on it, so hopefully it will go soon, and at a decent price….I know what I need to make on it in order to be happy, and I wont budge on that point…Especially if I tell people flat out this is the lowest I will go…I told that to one buyer already…So we will see.

Back at it.Tuesday, July 19th, 2005
Officialy back at it that is…
Since my Pop dying, and vacca. the workouts have been sporadic, and unfocused. Last night I hit a spin class, in a room with no AC (new gym, ac not working yet).
I was soaking wet at the end great class. Today I will lift and do some more hammer work since my partner has no numbers up I better up my numbers and post the work to the thread.
I am trying to pick a lifting plan now, I might give EDT 2 another run, since it got interruppted the last time, and I think I bit off more then I could chew and burned out….I will see….All over the place right now…Peace and I’m out.

And then there were 3.Monday, July 18th, 2005
Right now I have 3 cars. That’s right folks, 3 cars. My Eclipse, which is for sale, the Saturn, and now the new drum roll please the Chevy Equinox. 3 car payments, 2 parking spaces. I spent some time driving it this weekend about 120 miles worth of time, and it is super nice…
It rides nice, the transmission shifts nice, and smart, and it feels nice on the road, and I think it looks great. Has lots of great storage space, something I didn’t know I was missing until I got it back. It should be a reliable family vehicle for a while to come.
So you all heard that we are having a baby boy right….Just wanted to say that I am excited. Now I wasn’t hoping for a boy, or a girl. All my friends have little girls, and I was starting to see myself with a little girl, and now I am starting to see myself as the father to a little boy….Although it seems harder. Of course I am up to the challenge…More on that in the weeks to come.
Friday I go to the credit union to pick up the loan check so I can go pick up my care on Saturday morning. I get home which is about 30 miles from the CU when my cell phone rings.
Hap: Hello?CU: Hi John this is Brian from the CU where are you?Hap: Brian? Who are you?CU I am the loan officer from the CU (panic)Hap: Hi Brian whats up?CU John I need you to come back to the bank, (talking faster and nervously) where are you?Hap: I am in P-town already 40 miles a way there is no way I am coming back there today what the problem.CU. Holy shit! We have no record of giving you your loan>Hap. What?CU. There were two loan agreements here for some reason we ripped one up, you have the others, plu sthe loan check , plus the app. Plus all the recipts. So we have no record of giving you the money, my boss is going to kill me. Hello?Silence—————-Hap: I am sorry but you have the wrong number.CU: (very nervous laughter) Ha. Um what am I going to do.Hap: I have no idea what you are going to do, but I can’t come back there today, I can be in on Monday first thing…CU: Oh God, please….Hap: See you Monday.
Today at the credit union:
Hap: Hi guys, I guess there was a commotion here on Friday?CU: What happened?Hap: You have no record of my loan.CU: Yikes.Hap: So how much is my honesty worth? A payment or two or a point off the loan?CU: You honesty isn’t worth anything.Hap: OH yeah that’s right, I do the right thing and I shouldn’t be shown any special consideration for it. Especially since you didn’t have a copy of the loan, the check, a receipts, or my signature on a single piece of paper. Have a nice day.
They didn’t even give me a pen.
I helped the Mrs. set up for her cooking light party yesterday. The table looks really nice with our fine china on it. Together we made a shrimp dish, and a chicken dish pesto dish. The pesto only had 2 tbl of EVOO in it. I guess that why they call it cooking light….Her party is tonight, and I am off to work out while she is with the ladies…
